What Deen e Islam says

About Abortion

Brothers and Sisters!

Assalam o Alleyykum

    [Peace be Upon You]

Brothers and Sisters! Everyone believes that mankind is offspring of Hazrat Adam (PBUH). This fact is revealed in the Word of Allah, the Qur’an:

Translation Surah Al A’raf Ayat no 172

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

And (remember) when you Lord brought forth from Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam’s loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying):

“Am I not your Lord?”

The said: “Yes! We Testify”,

Lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: Verily, we have been unaware of this.

Brothers and Sisters! Every offspring of Hazrat Adam (PBUH) has a life span in this world i.e. from the time of conception until his or her time of death. His or her life span could be few days or more than 100 years. Few days means that he or she could die while in the womb of the mother or killed in the womb of the mother.

Brothers and Sisters! The process of his or her body in the womb of the mother commences when man and woman have sexual intercourse and the sperms of both man and woman meet in the womb of the mother. This fact is also revealed in the Word of Allah, the Qur’an:

Translation Surah An – Nisa Ayat no. 1

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

O Mankind! Be dutiful to your Lord, Who created you from single person (Adam), and from Him (Adam0 He created his wife [Haw’wa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women; and fear Allah through Whom you demand (your mutual rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allah is Ever a All – Watcher over you.

Brothers and Sisters! The following Ayat of the Qur’an reveals how the body of man or woman is manufactures in the womb of the mother:

Translation Surah Al – Mo’minoon Ayat no. 12 – 17

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

And indeed We created man (Adam) out of an extract of clay (water and earth)

Thereafter We made him (the offspring of Adam) as a Nutfah (mixed drops of the male and female sexual discharge and lodged it) in a safe lodging (womb of the woman)

Then We made the Nutfah into a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood), then We made the clot into a little lump of flesh, then We made of that little lump of flesh bones, then We clothed the bones with flesh, and then We brought it forth as another creation. So Blessed is Allah, the Best of Creator.

After that, surely, you will die.

The (again), surely, you will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection.

And indeed We have created above you seven heavens (one over the other), and We are never unaware of the creation.

Brothers and Sisters! When the life span of man or woman will end, he or she will die. It is also revealed in the Qur’an:

Translation Surah Al – Mo’minoon Ayat no. 15

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

After that, surely, you will die..

Brothers and Sisters! As mankind has been sent in the world for a test if mankind lives his life in accordance with the Guidance of Allah, mankind will be resurrected for accountability. This fact is also revealed din the Qur’an:

Translation Surah Al – Mo’minoon Ayat no. 16

بسم اللہ الرحمن الرحیم

.

The (again), surely, you will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection.

Brothers and Sisters! Before the soul is blown into the body, the growth of the Foetus is like plants.

Brothers and Sisters! As below is the extract appears to be based upon explanation of Hadith:

The life of the foetus in the mother’s uterus is like that of plants; it grows and is nourished, and it moves involuntarily, like the movement of some plants, or like the movement of the sun, or the opening of flowers, and the like

Brothers and Sisters! It happens that the child may die his natural death in the womb of the mother. For example:

·                     by an accident e.g. car accident, falling down the stairs, etc.,

·                     mis – match of blood group of husband and wife

·                     miscarriage

·                     etc., etc.

Brothers and Sisters! Ulema e Karam say that intentionally terminate the pregnancy, without any genuine reason, any time from conception till before the child is due to be delivered is killing the child. The genuine reason could be only that mother’s life in danger i.e. she would not survive which is discovered any time from the time of conception till the child is due to be delivered.

Brothers and Sisters! In view of the chronology from the time of conception till the time of the child to be delivered, do you think that the pregnancy should be terminated without any Genuine reason?

Brothers and Sisters! As below are few extracts from Google Internet in respect of Abortion:

Among contemporary Sunni scholars, Yasir Qadhi states that abortion may be performed within the first 40 days of pregnancy “for a very legitimate reason”, but is prohibited after that period, at which point ensoulment occurs.

Observation

Brothers and Sisters!

*************************

Islamic law permits an abortion under special circumstances. Muslims call these therapeutic abortions. An unplanned or unwanted pregnancy is not a legitimate reason for an abortion. Muslims allow for a therapeutic abortion before ensoulment (four months) if the pregnancy threatens the mother’s life.

*********************************

What does Islam say about miscarriage?

Miscarriages involving the fetus of age over six months should be bathed, shrouded, prayed and buried. Similarly, miscarriages that involve the fetus of age below six months and the fetus is delivered alive should be bathed, shrouded, prayed and buried.

When a baby dies in the womb in Islam?

It becomes human after 120 days (17 weeks + 1 day). A birth given after 120 days of pregnancy that is stillborn should be given a name. If it is difficult to determine the sex of the child, then a neutral name suitable for both boys and girls should be given. Both a fetus and a stillborn must be buried.

***********************************

What does Allah say about losing a baby?

Alhamdu’lillah! By adopting patience at the time of losing a child, the parents have guaranteed themselves Jannah. Allah has promised that on the Day of Recompense, your child will return to you and not be at peace until he has secured your place in Jannah.

********************************

Is infertility a punishment from Allah?

A wife should not feel guilty about not being able to give her husband children because the matter is ultimately in the hands of Allah. Just as every person’s Rizq (provision) in money is determined, one’s Rizq in other things in life has also been divinely

*********************************

Will I see my miscarried baby in Jannah?

The Prophet asked her: “Would you not be pleased to know that your son will lead you by hands into Jannah”? She was pleased by this news and kept patience. Do mothers get to meet their miscarried babies after passing on to heaven? Yes, we will meet them in heaven.

********************************

The natural methods include fertility awareness (also called the rhythm method) and coitus interruptus (also called withdrawal and the Arabic term is Azal). In the former method, the couples avoid sexual relationship during the fertility window of each cycle.

Observation

Brothers and Sisters! Azal means that the husband at the time of ejaculation ought to pull out his penis and ejaculate the sperms on wife’s belly or on her waist.

******************************

What Quran says about pregnancy?

The Quran mentions the care and attention required during pregnancy and childbirth. We read the words of Allah, “And if they carry, then spend on them until they deliver their burden…” (Quran 65:6–7) The family must devote a portion of their resources for a safe pregnancy.

*****************************

What does Allah say about the womb?

“He makes you in the wombs of your mothers in stages, one after another, in three veils of darkness..” This statement is from Surah 39:6.

*****************************

Is miscarriage a punishment from Allah?

It is not a sin, it is not a sign of weakness and it is certainly not non acceptance of Allah (SWT) Will!

***************************

What happens if a woman dies giving birth in Islam?

If the woman dies within 40 days of giving birth, she will die as a Shaheed (martyr). (Hadith). A woman that dies in her virginity, during her pregnancy, at the time of birth or thereafter (in nifaas) will attain the rank of a martyr’.

****************************

Is infertility a punishment from Allah?

In that sense, just as Allah tests some people with wealth and others with poverty, He tests some with children and others with not having children. Just as not having money is in no way a sign of Allah’s displeasure, not having children does not indicate Allah’s not being pleased with you.

CONCLUSION

Brothers and Sisters! The extracts are self-explanatory in respect of the Hikmah (Prudence) of the essence that the forthcoming generation must not be aborted unless and until there is genuine reason.

Brothers and Sisters! There appears to be two part of life. One in this world with body and soul and the other part in the life hereafter of soul only. The children who die during pregnancy will welcome their parents in the life hereafter subject to that they were patient upon their children’s death and they died as Muslims.
